SHORT FABLE STORY: THE FOX, THE PARROT AND THE GRAPES

Make effort to get something; Make excuse get nothing.

It is another fable fiction version of The Fox and The Grapes Story.

A hungry fox saw some bunches of grapes upon a vine high up a tree. He tried to get at them. He jumped and jumped but could not reach them.

So he left the grapes and went off.
He met a red parrot, called Motiparrot.
Motiparrot, the red parrot, asked, “You are hungry and thirsty. Why don’t you get the grapes there?”

“They are sour grapes, ”
the fox answered.

“So, they are sour grapes?” asked Motiparrot, the red parrot.
“Yes!”

Motiparrot, the red parrot, were flying around and said, “Hi, everybody don’t eat the grapes. Don’t try to get them. They are sour grapes!”

Some animals just believed what the parrot and fox said but not all of them did.

“It’s hoax. You haven’t tried them or you haven’t tried harder enough to get them. You are desperate and say that they are sour grapes, ” a monkey-like animal, namely Orangutan, said, hanging at the tree where the grapes were at.

Otan, the orangutan, took some grapes and ate them with sweet expression.

“The grapes are delicious. They are sweet,” said Otan, the orangutan.
“Try these!” The orangutan threw some grapes to the fox, the red parrot and the others.

“Hmmm, yummy, they are sweet,” said the animals around the tree.

“Yeah, the grapes are sweet. They are not sour. I just repeated and followed what the fox said. He was wrong,” said Motiparrot, the red parrot.

“Honestly, I said the grapes were sour because I could not get them. I made an excuse,” said the fox.

Sometimes, in reality, when people cannot get what they want, they make believe that what they want is good for nothing.

This short fable story is adapted from original fable story, The Fox and The Grapes by AESOP and HORACE E. SCUDDER and rewritten by YW Purnomosidhi alias Mas Wahyu Didik.
